This announcement ensured that 30 + members will remain public sector workers and continue to have the wages and benefits they deserve. In 2005, Parks Canada conducted an overview of Highlands Links financial and future management options, proposing various options of privatization for Highlands Links. In April of 2006, the PSAC, National Component and Local 80016 launched a successful, Stop Highlands Links Privatization Campaign. With the new management framework, Parks will manage and maintain the course, with a not-for-profit group operating the concessions. All profit from the concessions will be returned to the course. This framework not only ensures stable employment for workers, but also stabilizes the economic input to the community. The PSAC, National Component and Local 80016 would like to thank all those who supported our campaign through lobbying, signing petitions, conducting demonstrations, protest rallying, attending meetings and other contributions.
